Morphine Maintenance Treatment

Slow-release oral morphine is widely used for pain management, but there is also growing evidence for its use as a medication for long-term treatment of opioid abuse dependence and addition. Slow-release oral morphine has been approved for clinical use in the treatment of addiction in Switzerland, Germany, and France among other countries for several years now. In Canada, slow-release oral morphine for treatment with morphine is available now as "off-label" use, in certain special circumstances, for example when suboxone or methadone have not worked or there is a problem with their usage. Slow-release morphine can also be combined to augment methadone in cases where the opioid abuse is severe.  To see if you quality for this emerging mode of treatment and other details of the program, consult with your physician if you already attend our clinics, or make an appointment here.
