About Suboxone:

Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. Naloxone is a special narcotic drug that reverses the effects of other opioids medicines. Suboxone is used to treat addiction to other opioids.
Buprenorphine was first marketed in the 1980s as a pain killer. In 2002, the United States, and then Canada in 2008 approved Suboxone, buprenorphine's sublingual tablet preparations for treatment of opioid dependency, and the drug is now used predominantly for this purpose.
